Wisteria grows slowly for 2-3 years after planting and requires particularly careful care and sheltering for the winter. Then, it grows strongly, producing 1-3 m of growth per year, reaching a height of 10 m and more. Shoots twine around supports. The roots of old specimens may grow within a radius of several meters. Cutting this type of climber accelerates flowering and slows down growth.
